Noise Solutions

There can be a lot of noise in a modern home – TVs, radios, teenagers with friends and their music, the excitement of video games, even the washing machine or the dryer. Finding a quiet haven in which to simply relax is getting so difficult that many home builders are now including sound proofing and sound insulation in their home design.

Gyprock Soundchek™ - Peace and Quiet whenever you need it

Gyprock Soundchek™ plasterboard is Australia's first acoustic insulation plasterboard designed to reduce the transfer of unwanted domestic noise through walls and ceilings. Its super high-density construction, reflectivity and sound dampening characteristics result in noise reduction between rooms of up to 75%.

Gyprock Soundchek™ is slim and lightweight, making it a much more workable alternative to acoustic foam and other acoustic insulation materials traditionally used in room acoustic treatments and sound proofing.

How it Works

Gyprock Soundchek™ plasterboard has a high-density gypsum board core with sound reflective and absorptive properties, and is encased in heavy-duty liner boards. It is manufactured to AS 2588.

Make the most of Gyprock Soundchek™

The Soundchek system works best when combined with Rockwool insulation, solid core doors to create an additional noise barrier, and effective door seals between rooms. Noise insulation is further improved by carpeted floors and soft furnishings and when power points and light switches are not positioned back to back.

Construction

Gyprock Soundchek™ systems use a special Soundchek sheet made of a high-density gypsum core encased in heavy-duty linerboards. It is manufactured to AS2588.

Gyprock Soundchek™ Level 1

For walls, a layer of Gyprock Soundchek™ is fixed each side of the frame with Bradford Soundscreen™ insulation placed between them. For floor/ceilings, a layer of Soundchek is fixed to furring channels and resilient mounts to the underside of floor or ceiling joists. For roof/ceilings, two layers of Soundchek are fixed directly to the joists or trusses. Ceiling insulation is used in the ceiling space.

Gyprock Soundchek™ - Level 2

For walls, two layers of Gyprock Soundchek™ are fixed to furring channels and Gyprock™ Resilient mounts on one side of the frame, and one layer of Soundchek is fixed to the other side. Bradford Soundscreen™ insulation is placed between them. For ceilings, two layers of Soundchek are fixed to furring channels and resilient mounts to the underside of floor or ceiling joists. Sound insulation is also used in the floor space.
